Kwahu Business Forum: President Mahama Urges Africa to Embrace Industrialization Amid Global Shifts

Kwahu, Ghana — April 19
President John Dramani Mahama has urged African nations to capitalise on shifting global dynamics by embracing industrialization, entrepreneurship, and value-added production to secure a stronger position in the evolving global economy.

Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum, President Mahama stressed the need for Africa to move beyond its traditional export-based economy and actively pursue manufacturing, digital innovation, and agribusiness.

“The world is changing, and new opportunities are being thrown up. We, as a country, must take advantage of those opportunities,” he stated.

He highlighted ongoing trade wars between major global powers as a catalyst for change—creating openings Africa must not miss. Reflecting on past global shifts, President Mahama noted that the continent has often been left behind during key transitions, including the Cold War and the globalization era.

This time, he said, Africa must be ready.

With optimism, President Mahama encouraged Africans to reimagine their roles in the global economy by venturing into large-scale farming, digital entrepreneurship, and strategic industries that drive long-term growth.

“We can be anything that we want,” he affirmed.

The Kwahu Business Forum continues to serve as a vital platform for dialogue between policymakers, entrepreneurs, and investors, with a focus on empowering the private sector and fostering sustainable economic transformation across Ghana and the continent.
