In a powerful act of solidarity, the Government of Ghana has donated 40 metric tonnes of premium Ghana-made chocolate and cocoa products to the people of Gaza amid the ongoing conflict. The donation, described by the presidency as a “gesture of compassion,” was presented by President John Mahama to the Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdul Fattah Ahmed Khalil al-Sattari, during a ceremony at the Jubilee House in Accra.
President Mahama emphasized the dual significance of the donation — both symbolic and practical.
“We are not only reaffirming our strong ties with the people of Palestine, but also extending comfort and nourishment to families in distress,” the President said. “Behind every statistic are real lives — children, women, and families longing for peace and dignity.”
Highlighting the importance of the cocoa-based aid, President Mahama noted cocoa’s deep cultural and economic importance to Ghana, calling it a “superfood” rich in vital nutrients, antioxidants, and energy — especially beneficial for children and women in crisis zones.
The products, branded under Ghana’s celebrated Golden Tree, serve as a nutritional lifeline and a heartfelt message of solidarity.
President Mahama also praised the Palestinian community in Ghana for their contributions to national development, especially in the education sector, citing their efforts in building modern classrooms in underserved communities.
Receiving the donation, Ambassador al-Sattari expressed profound gratitude on behalf of the Palestinian people, stating:
“This donation will provide not just nourishment, but hope — a reminder that even in the darkest times, humanity prevails.”
