The Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has announced that the producer price of cocoa will remain unchanged for the 2025/2026 crop season, despite ongoing global market volatility and recent regional price adjustments.
In an official communication dated April 8 to the Licensed Cocoa Buyers’ Association of Ghana (LICOBAG), COCOBOD emphasized that the decision followed a thorough assessment of the cocoa sector’s financial and operational landscape.
“This decision comes after careful consideration of the operational and financial implications for the cocoa industry,” said Dr. James Kofi Kutoati, Acting Deputy Chief Executive, Operations.

Currently, Ghanaian cocoa farmers receive GH₵3,100 per 64kg bag, translating to GH₵49,600 per tonne. The price reflects a marginal 0.03% increase over the rate announced in September for the 2024/2025 season.
COCOBOD underscored its commitment to maintaining price stability and ensuring long-term sustainability across the cocoa value chain. The board noted that while Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana’s largest competitor, recently implemented a price increase, Ghana’s current stance aims to balance farmer welfare with global market realities.
Looking ahead, COCOBOD indicated that it remains open to reviewing producer prices, fees, and stakeholder margins during the upcoming season as market conditions evolve.
